Gout is a disease of abnormal uric acid metabolism. Difficulty in purine metabolism builds up excessive uric acid, which induces the disease. it's a common and complex type of inflammatory arthritis, Gout usually occurs at night, with acute joint pain as severe pain, edema, redness, and inflammation in the joint area.
What is the main cause of gout?
1. Hyperlipidemia
80% of gout patients have hypertriglyceridemia, and some patients have hypercholesterolemia. High triglycerides can affect renal uric acid excretion, which is one of the main causes of gout.
2. Hypertension
Hypertension and gout affect each other. persistent hypertension can induce gout attacks, at the same time,if high uric acid has not been controlled, it can induce hypertension.
3. Obesity
Studies have shown that the larger the body surface area, the higher the serum uric acid level. Obesity can lead to hyperuricemia, some obese patients have endocrine system disorders or excessive ketone production, this could inhibit uric acid excretion and leads to increased uric acid levels. In addition, people who are overweight generally have excessive calories, this could accelerate the metabolism of purines, which can increase the blood uric acid concentration.
4. Drinking
Addictive alcohol consumption could increase blood uric acid, lactic acid, and the content of purine substances, thereby causing acute attacks of gouty arthritis.
5. Diabetes
About 30% of diabetic patients have hyperuricemia, especially for type 2 diabetic patients. The reduction of blood flow in the kidneys causes glomerular ischemia and hypoxia, thereby increasing the production of lactic acid. Lactic acid will compete with uric acid for excretion, which will reduce uric acid excretion.
6. Unhealthy diet
High-protein and high-purine diets are the main factors that cause gout. Protein metabolism needs calcium. Too much protein intake will use more calcium to metabolize. This will affect kidney function and increase uric acid excretion. In severe cases, it can induce bone hyperplasia and kidney stones which eventually lead to gout.
